For years, December came with the pressure of setting New Year’s Resolutions—fueled by advertisements, societal norms, and my own ambition. Like so many others, I’d start January with enthusiasm, only to feel disheartened by February. Based on everything I heard, I always felt I “shoulding” all over myself.
But over time, I learned a more compassionate and effective way to create goals–one rooted in abundance and authenticity rather than pressure and perfection. I want to help you do the same, and step into 2025 feeling empowered and inspired to live the life of your dreams.
Game-Changing Insights to Move from New Year’s Resolutions to Purpose Planning
Here are some new thoughts that have shaped my journey:
Begin with Gratitude and Abundance
Instead of setting goals based on what you feel is “lacking,” reflect on what’s already wonderful in your life. A mindset rooted in gratitude fosters sustainable growth and fulfillment.
Align Goals with Your Core Values
When your goals resonate with your personal values, they feel natural and achievable. For example, setting boundaries at work can create more time for family and yourself—helping you thrive in all areas.
Focus on Impact Beyond Yourself
Tying your aspirations to a greater purpose not only keeps you motivated but also makes success sweeter.
When your goals positively impact others, the ripple effects are extraordinary.
Trust the Journey
Some days you’ll soar; other days may feel slow. Remember, progress isn’t always linear, and every step counts. Embrace the process with patience and grace.
Choose End Goals Over Means Goals
Shift your perspective from surface-level goals (like losing 10 pounds) to those that prioritize how you want to feel and experience life (like becoming your healthiest, happiest self).

Create a Vision Board instead of a New Year’s Resolution.
Seeing your dreams daily can keep you motivated and help your brain filter opportunities that align with your goals. Have some fun. Pull out your old magazines or jump on canva and create a vision board.
Moderation Over Perfection
Life is meant to be enjoyed! Consistency trumps intensity. Celebrate progress without striving for unattainable perfection.
Prioritize Fun
Infuse joy into your pursuits. Fun and play sustain motivation and build community along the way.
Rethink the Timing
According to Ayurveda, we’re in Kapha season–the time to turn inwards and take the rest that’s critical for the next growth cycle, meaning the time to take action isn’t always aligned with the beginning of the Gregorian (the calendar the modern world follows) New Year. You don’t need to rush into resolutions by January 1. Use this time for reflection and embrace action when you feel ready.
Build Your Support Circle
Whether it’s a coach, mentor, or trusted friend, surround yourself with those who uplift and believe in your vision.
Your Unique Game Plan
How do you want to rethink the way you being 2025. Will it be with a New Year’s Resolution, or is there another way to set yourself up for success?
